Hyperspermia: Is It Really Harmful For Your Fertility?

hyperspermia

It’s not something casual. It’s a real problem. It happened with my friend. That’s why I know the real problems associated with hyperspermia. My friend was suffering from various symptoms of hyperspermia.

He called me one day after coming back from the doctor’s office. Sabi niya, “Pare, parang ang daming lumalabas sa akin. Normal ba ‘yon?”

So what was his problem, and how did he realize it could be hyperspermia? First off, he was having trouble having a baby after marriage.

While searching online, listing his problems, he learned that he could be suffering from hyperspermia. After that, the doctor confirmed.

What tells me the problem is not uncommon? According to Healthline, around 4% men have this problem globally. But one thing still remains unclear: is this a problem or a privilege?

Quick Answer: What Is Hyperspermia?

Hyperspermia is a condition where you have very high sperm production. Every time a person with hyperspermia ejaculates, the volume of sperm ejected is very high. That brings us to the question: What is the normal semen volume?

According to the WHO, the healthy volume is around 1.5-5 mL. So, anyone with a volume of 5.5 ml each time is hyperspermic. But this is an unusual condition in adults. That’s why only 4-5% of adults worldwide have hyperspermia.

But we must also break a myth here. Generally, you may assume that a higher semen count and sperm volume would inadvertently mean more babies.

If not, a higher chance of conceiving each time you have intercourse. However, that is not the case at all. Having a higher fluid count alone does not make any change. What matters is your sperm quality.

What Are The Symptoms Of Hyperspermia?

Yes, you guessed it right. People with hyperspermia may also have problems conceiving, as people with lower sperm count have.

As I told you before, my friend’s doctor confirmed that! So, you have to locate hyperspermia as soon as you can.

As observed by Healthline and research done by several global IVF clinics, the common signs include:

  1. Every time you ejaculate, you will eject 5 ml or more than that
  1. Your sex drive will always be high
  1. Often, ejaculation is delayed
  1. Weird sensation and shivering during ejaculation, or frequently while ejaculating
  1. Semen is usually thicker than usual at the beginning of ejaculation
  1. The sperm color would be frequently or always creamy white or yellowish
  1. Prolonged pain after ejaculation or a slight sensation of rightness of the penis after ejaculation

Not all Filipino men with hyperspermia have all the symptoms. But that does not mean they are not suffering from the problem. The severity of the problem varies from person to person.

The last two problems are actually rare, even among people with hyperspermia. But what symptoms did my friend witness?

Apparently, he did not have any such issues as pain or stretched feeling that would naturally make him notice. He only noticed when his wife pointed out there might be a problem, as they had been trying to have a baby for some months at a stretch. Walang ibang sintomas. Just more fluid.

What To Do:

Are you trying to get pregnant, and it has been months now? Sadly, you haven’t seen any success, right? Contact a doctor right now!

Get tested for hypospermia or hyperspermia. It could be either or none. But once you bail out any chances, you know that the delay is normal and happiness is around the corner.

What Causes Hyperspermia?

There are several causes. But what was the factor in your case is difficult to affirm. That’s why it is better for us to be aware of all the contributing factors.

Remember that it is not possible to exactly tell why you have the problem. But your problem is certainly due to one of the reasons mentioned below:

  • Hormonal imbalances that increase testosterone level by 20 too 30%
  • Prostate or seminal vesicle issues that remain hyperactive and result in a large volume of sperm production every time
  • Constantly using viagra or other meds & supplements that increase your libido
  • If you ejaculate after healthy gaps, the sperm count nd semen volume can be exceptionally high
  • A high-nutrient diet plan can sometimes trigger hyper sperm production. But this theory is still not well documented in the research literature.
  • Genetic factors can also cause hyperspermia. However, that is also not a tested truth.

What Happened In My Friend’s Case?

My friend admitted that he was taking a supplemented tha his gym trainer advised him to. That produced had an advisory warning saying it was a testosterone booster.

He further said that after this problem, he stopped taking the supplement. After that, he saw somewhat positive results. Hindi niya alam na may ganoon palang side effect.

Quick fix: when the doctor checks you, tell them what supplement you were eating. Often, we don’t consider the side effects of the supplements.

But when they cause an imbalance, situations like hyperspermia arise. So be aware. Again, you must be aware of what foods produce sperm fast.

Does Hyperspermia Affect Fertility?

In most cases, you might have a problem getting pregnany in case if hyperspermia is the issue. However, it might not be the case with your inability to get pregnant.

So it is always better to consult a doctor if you are facing any issues. Gain, after you get pregnant, follow the 1 to 3 month pregnancy diet chart strictly.

Here, you need to understand how hyperspermia works. The semen is in a fluid form. However, the sperm cells are not all of it.

Because the fluid volume is very high in hyperspermia, the sperm cells are quite diluted. As a result, the sperm have a tough time impregnating the ovum.

Assume you are suffering from hyperspermia. But that never implies that you also have a very high sperm count, too.

What Could Possibly Be The Case With You:

  • If your semen volume is high but your sperm count is still within the normal range, fertility is likely unaffected
  • If high volume comes with lower sperm concentration, conception can take longer or become harder
  • There’s also a slightly higher risk of miscarriage linked to hyperspermia, though this isn’t fully understood yet

For couples like my friend and his wife, it wasn’t infertility exactly. It just took longer. Mahirap lang, hindi imposible.

How Is Hyperspermia Diagnosed?

What the doctor does in most cases is a complete sperm analysis. The sample is sent to the lab. There, they check for:

  1. The net semen volume and count of sperm cells
  1. The motility of the sperm (whether they can easily swim to impregnate the ovum)
  1. Are the sperms healthy or wilting

Treatment Options: What Can Actually Be Done?

If it is not affecting your pregnancy, you do not need to treat hyperspermia. After all, it is not a disease. Rather, it is a condition. Wag mag-alala agad.

But what can you change when it comes to your pregnancy:

1. Lifestyle Changes

  • Stay away from add-ons that boost testosterone for better muscle growth
  • Don’t push for testosterone ensabler foods only.
  • Maintain a balance of all micro- and macronutrients.

2. Treat the underlying cause. If a hormonal imbalance is causing it, you need to fix it. Often, people with an enlarged prostate ejaculate much higher amounts of semen.

Once you treat the real cause, this problem will be solved by default. Some advisors claim that a healthy PCOD diet can also reduce the volume of sperm ejaculated.

3. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Is One Of The Best Options For A Permanent Fix:

  • IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is an artificial therapy of washing only concentrated sperm and letting it impregnate the ovum artificially.
  • IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) to impregnate the ovum with sperm outside the body and then place it inside the womb
  • ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is the most effective process when a healthy sperm is inserted into the egg. As a result, you can get pregnant with only healthy sperm. The count, motility, and morphology of the sperm does not matter in this case.

Hyperspermia VS. Hypospermia: What’s The Difference?

People with these two problems will have complete separate repercussions:

 Hyperspermia Hypospermia
Semen volume Above 5.5 ml Below 1.5 ml
Sperm concentration Often diluted Can be concentrated or low
Fertility impact Possible difficulty Possible difficulty
Common cause Hormonal, glandular, supplements Hormonal, retrograde ejaculation, blockage

Detect Problems Early And Solve Hyperspermia

Hyperspermia sounds alarming. But it is not always harmful, as it is only a condition and not a disease. Most men who have it are still fertile.

The ones who face real challenges usually have it alongside another issue. For example, low sperm motility or count.

What matters is not panicking, getting properly tested, and working with a specialist if needed. My friend’s story ended well. So can yours.
